THE COASTER AT GOATS ON THE ROOF
The Coaster at Goats on the Roof in Pigeon Forge is a thrill ride down the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains. And yes, there are goats on the roof of the main building which also houses a gift shop, ice cream and candy store and the Old Goat Gem Mine. There is plenty to see and do, including feeding the goats in the pen or sending treats to the actual goats on the grass roof by the hand-cranked or bicycle-cranked “Goat-cycle”.
The ride itself is 4,375 feet long and takes 7 minutes to charge down the hill at a full 27 miles per hour. You can slow the speed with the hand brakes but either way your ride will be smooth and fun! This is an adrenaline-pumping activity that will make you want to ride it again and again, especially at night if you rode during the day. At night The Coaster is lit-up with colored, flashing lights that make the experience feel like a ride through the clouds in a space ship.
Each sled is built for one or two people so you can share the adventure with a friend or loved one. You are transported to the top of the mountain where you get a panoramic view of Pigeon Forge. Once you are over the top, gravity takes over and your downhill journey quickly begins. The less you use the brakes, the faster you go down the hill and around the double loops but you are always safely attached to the steel rails and you are always in control with the brakes. . You travel through the trees enjoying gorgeous mountain-side views on one of the wildest rides in town. And there to greet you at the bottom are the goats.
