Pigeon Forge Car Show - Shades Of The Past - Pigeon Forge Car Show

Shades of the Past – Pigeon Forge 201

If you are a car enthusiast then there is no better place to be than Pigeon Forge in the fall of the year, September 7th & 8th to be exact. That’s when the 36th Annual Shades of the Past Hot Rod Roundup arrives in Pigeon Forge at Dollywood’s Splash Country.  This isn’t your ordinary car show! This rod run offers a Grand Prize of $10,000 in cash and a 1932 Ford Hi-Boy Roadster. Hundreds of hot rods are expected to compete for the big prize!
The Shades of the Past Rod Run began as a few good old boys getting together in Pigeon Forge to show off their hard work customizing classic cars. They found out that there were more good old boys – and girls – working long hours in their garages around the country doing the same thing that they were doing – pouring lots of time, money and love into classic steel horses. And when they were done they wanted to show off their beauties so they rolled into Pigeon Forge and parked along the Parkway and raised their hoods. Pigeon Forge has welcome these beloved car shows every since. Car lovers came over and shared the love of the restored American hot rods. The crowds grew…and grew…and continue to grow.
So those good old boys turned the mutual admiration society into an annual event and made Pigeon Forge their home. And every year car lovers, parts dealers, sellers, buyers and car junkies from all over the country converge on Pigeon Forge to once again show off, brag, buy, sell and compete. And all day long there is a stream of classic metal rolling down the right lawn on the Parkway on shiny black and whitewall tires, showing off to those hundreds of admiring fans camped out in their lawn chairs sitting in the grass along the Pigeon Forge Parkway. Now if that isn’t as American an apple pie I don’t know what is!
Whether you are a car nut or just an admirer of beautiful cars, the gathering in Pigeon Forge is worth seeing. Plan your trip well in advance so you can enjoy the attractions and live shows available in the area. Bring your lawn chairs and a cooler full of bologna sandwiches and RC Cola and claim a spot in the grass along the Parkway. Be a part of the history of one of the most glorious rod runs in the entire U.S. of A – The Shades of the Past Hot Rod Roundup in beautiful Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, the Center of Fun in the Smokies.
