Lower River Rafting is best for those looking for a scenic float trip or have children younger than age 8. The 5 1/2-mile trip through the scenic Pigeon River gorge begins at the outpost and ends at Denton Bridge. A bus returns guests to the outpost.
Upper River Rafting is a 6.5 mile raft trip down higher waters through the heart of the Smoky Mountains. Certified guides will navigate the entire trip, sharing their love of splashing through big waves, maneuvering around rocks, and enjoying the beauty of the outdoors.
Finally, Extreme Upper River Rafting is best for thrill seekers. A smaller raft with a maximum of three rafters and a guide charter especially high waters. The ability to swim and previous rafting experience is recommended for this level.
Every guest is issued with a type 5 Coast Guard-approved personal floatation device, with rafting available to children as young as age 3. Smoky Mountain Outdoors always rafts rain or shine — a trip may be delayed for a few minutes to allow a strong storm to pass.
Guests can also enjoy a meal or snack at the riverside pavilion and camp on the nearby Pigeon River Campground.
