SMOKY MOUNTAIN WINTERFEST-FUN FOR ALL!

Winterfest is a county-wide celebration of Christmas lights, activities, attractions, decorations, events, food, fun and the holiday spirit in the Great Smoky Mountains of Tennessee.

Every Smoky Mountain city, many businesses, and most attractions are decorated for the winter holidays of Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s Eve and Valentine’s Day. Over 15 million Christmas lights adorn the streetlights, Trolleys, trees, displays and storefronts of Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg and Kodak, and the festive spirit rings out with music, street activities – called Tunes & Tales, hayrides, fireworks, a Festival of Trees, a December Arts & Crafts Show, Christmas on Ice, live Christmas programs in the shows and theaters, and New Year’s Eve activities including fireworks and a ball Drop.

Not only can you walk through Patriot Park or drive through all of the cities and see the lights, but you can also take designated Trolley’s that will give you a guided tour of the displays. And you can drive through the Shadrack Christmas Wonderland at Smokies Stadium and see and hear a coordinated light and music show. There is also a petting zoo, pony and camel rides, delicious holiday foods, and photos with Santa.

Winterfest in the Smokies is also a good time to find wonderful Christmas and after-Christmas bargains in the hundreds of brand name stores, outlet malls like Tanger Five Oaks, and other unique shops of the area including the Great Smoky Arts & Crafts Community featuring unique hand-made crafts, fine art, antiques and collectibles.

Christmas parades and unique events happen every month from November through February including Wilderness Wildlife Week, Saddle Up! and Dollywood’s Smoky Mountain Christmas.
