THE OLD MILL RESTAURANT & GENERAL STORE – SMOKY MOUNTAIN TRADITIONS

Any trip to the Great Smoky Mountains or the city of Pigeon Forge, needs to include a stop at the Historic Old Mill and the Old Mill Square. There you will find good eats, neat treats and the wooden floors of the General Store that have felt 186 years of visitors treading across their beams.

The Old Mill Restaurant serves up Southern Food and Southern Hospitality daily with breakfast, lunch and dinner. Breakfast is served with mini-muffins, Smoky Mountain Special Preserves and sour wood honey to accompany your meal choices. Lunches and dinners are graced with corn chowder, corn fritters and apple butter as starters to your meal choices that include pot roast, fried chicken, meatloaf, chicken and dumplings, catfish, pork chops and so much more! Desserts are highlighted by their famous homemade Pecan Pie.

Another dining choice is the Pottery House Cafe and Grille conveniently located across the street in the former home of Pigeon River Pottery’s founder, Douglas Ferguson. There you can dine leisurely on quiches, garden fresh salads, homemade soups and fresh baked breads. The delightful smells from the bakery will wet your appetite and the homey and pleasant atmosphere will make you feel comfortable and at home while you dine. Of course you can take fresh baked breads, pies and cakes with you to enjoy in your cabin or at home.

The Old Mill Square is a cozy shopping area that features fresh ground products, jams, jellies and souvenirs at the General Store, hand-thrown pottery from Pigeon River Pottery, useful items from the Farmhouse Kitchen, clothing and unique accessories at Sassafras, and ice cream and candy from the Creamery and the Candy Kitchen.

The newest addition to the Square is Old Forge Distillery where they distill smooth, small-batch spirits with deep Tennessee roots. Tastings of the products are available as are souvenirs and other Old Forge products. True to their Tennessee roots, many of the ingredients for the Distillery spirits are ground next door at the Old Mill Grist Mill.
