SMOKY MOUNTAIN TUNES & TALES KICKS-OFF IN GATLINBURG APRIL 4, 2014

Tunes & Tales begins in downtown Gatlinburg this Friday and Saturday nights. Tunes & Tales is a City of Gatlinburg sponsored event that features storytellers, musical performers, artisans and cloggers giving the visitor a street full of Appalachian culture. The event goes nightly beginning on June 13th.

The Dulcimer Guys

Gatlinburg has always been known as a walking town and now the experience of walking the Parkway, visiting the stores, smelling the sausage and onions cooking and seeing the Taffy being pulled, is enhanced by this entertaining, family-oriented activity. Not only will you be entertained but you might learn something. How?

Back Porch Cloggers

Well, the Back Porch Cloggers will not only be demonstrating the dance, but they will be teaching folks some of the steps.

Spinnin’ Selma

There will be woodworking, quilting and spinning demonstrations and you can play a spoon, washboard, saw or washtub in a ‘Jug Band’. Try doing that in New Yark City!

You will find performances from 5-10pm during the spring, then 6-11pm during the summer. You will find the activities up and down the Parkway in Gatlinburg and you will hear mountain style renditions of traditional bluegrass, country, Gospel and folk music.
