Mother Nature presents a new palette of colors every fall and you never know what colors will express themselves. But at the Old Mill Restaurant you can count on the quality and abundance of food every time you visit no matter what the season. But during the fall season the pumpkin pie and biscuits slathered with Old Mill’s apple butter seem to taste even better.
The Old Mill Restaurant is one of the Smoky Mountains’ great dining experiences. The big, two-story restaurant sits next to the Old Mill General Store and many diners can sit and watch the water wheel for the grist mill turning and the water from the Pigeon River spilling over the dam. The breads, biscuits, pancakes and muffins served at the Old Mill Restaurant are made with grains ground next door at the mill in the General Store, and those ground grain products are available to buy and make your own tasty treats at home. But the Old Mill Restaurant is about the food, old-fashioned Southern comfort food served with Southern hospitality.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served at the Old Mill Restaurant so you can choose the time to dine or go back several times during your visit. The menu is varied and everything is served hot and delicious! You can get country favorites like biscuits and gravy, sugar-cured ham, chicken and dumplings, country fried steak, chicken pot pie, pot roast and gravy and turkey and dressing. All entrees come with the Old Mill’s signature Corn Chowder, Corn Muffins, salad and sides. If you still have room you can top off your meal with the Old Mill’s famous Pecan Pie and Chocolate Pecan Pie.
Don’t forget, you can take home the ingredients for many of the Old Mill Restaurant’s foods, especially the stone-ground grains for making biscuits, pancakes, muffins and breads. You can also get apple and other fruit butters, syrups, jams, jellies, chow chow, mixes, salsa, condiments and sauces at the Old Mill General Store. The bridge into Old Mill Square is always decorated with flowers but during the fall you will see mums, corn stalks, gourds and pumpkins added to the decorations on the buildings, walkways and signs making the Old Mill Restaurant and the Square even more festive and inviting.
